A Poem: Statues

This weapon of war is now a statue. It’s a prophecy of something that we can hope for. Bombs drop, people scream, Satan laughs, and everyone is searching for meaning. As war begins, darkness spreads over the world.

“It’s for God!”

No it’s not. It’s for your own fears and moral constructs.

We’ve gotten rid of the slave market. We have changed positions and targets. We are still the same blessed United States- in pride we trust. Let’s not just focus on ourself! Look to your neighbor! Are you a kind neighbor?

I long for the day where the lion lays with the lamb and where violence passes away and we are restored to a constant healing- a salvation. “No weapon formed against us may prosper” they’ll say. Tell that to Parkland. “If God is for us then who can be against us?”. Look through the eyes of the world as they observe our president who disgusts them. “Pray for those in power!” How many people do you think are praying for this nation and for that man? Abraham was one man who convinced God to save two cities if there were 10 righteous people found. Why wouldn’t God hear the prayers of millions?

I’m so tired of violence. I’m so tired of war. I can’t take any of this anymore! When will we value people? When can we let enough be enough? When can we all just shut up and realize that we are all the same?

So often I hear “You’re not the same anymore” so I stand like this statue with both a vigil and a should of prays but I’m counting the days until I’m out of the haze that people place on me. Where are the waterfalls? Where are the bright green pines? Where can I find roses? There’s so much beauty and everyone is clouding my mind- just let me speak! Why does everything have to be war? Why do we have to argue? Why can’t we just love?

Love.

Love.

Love.

Love.

God is Love so where is God in our lives? Love heals, but we wage war. Love covers sin, but we wage war. Love forgives, but we wage war. Love is the all in all yet it is found absent in all of this so where is God? A statue? Is God frozen and in shock like I am? Where is God? A statue? Love.

This weapon of war is now a statue. It’s a prophecy of something that we can hope for. Bombs drop, people scream, Satan laughs, and everyone is searching for meaning. As war begins, darkness spreads over the world.
